Learning Chinese isn’t hard, it’s long

WE MAKE IT SHORTER

We know you don’t want your employees to spend time writing characters repeatedly. Or have people practice saying, “I like to listen to the radio” (do people have radios anymore?). You want to:

  • Have your employees participate in meetings instead of struggling to follow along.
  • Improve relationships between native and non-native employees.
  • Stop missing deadlines because of misunderstandings.
  • Increase the length of time employees stay at your company.

…but even non-native employees who’ve lived in Taiwan for years still can hardly deliver a self-introduction in Chinese.

Zoey Huang has over four years of experience as a Mandarin Chinese teacher in Japan, Germany, and at Chung Yuan Christian University in Taiwan. While teaching engineers, diplomats, and business owners Chinese one-on-one, she realized she needed to cut through the fluff of Chinese teaching programs and focus on speaking. So she decided to bring her training program to companies.

Employees don’t have to drop everything for four years and get a degree in Chinese Literature. That’s absurd. They need to be able to communicate what’s necessary to get the job done in the workplace.

Learning Chinese doesn’t have to mean being able to read Confucius. It means connecting with colleagues, suppliers, and customers to drive business value.

You can learn Chinese faster than you think!

HERE’S HOW IT WORKS

WE FOCUS ON BUSINESSES

Mandarin Mindset’s Business Chinese Levels 1, 2, and 3 provide in-person (or online) training focused on Business vocabulary and conversations.

Step 1: Language Level Assessment

  • We do a quick, 15-minute speaking assessment to determine whether an employee should be in a level 1, 2, or 3 class.
  • From there, we group employees into classes based on their level. We recommend 5-10 employees per group.
  • Are your employees’ Mandarin-speaking abilities all completely different? Are you planning on hiring new employees soon and want to push back classes? No problem. We offer one-on-one “catch-up” classes to ensure no one is left behind.

Step 2: Training Begins

  • We meet with your HR department to determine the biggest language pain points. Are they struggling to participate in meetings? Are you trying to increase employee retention by increasing their personal connections in the workplace? Do they need to be able to speak to factories in China? We have you covered.
  • We offer 12 weeks of bi-weekly classes, 90 minutes each (total time three hours a week)
  • Classes are either onsite at your company or online from anywhere in the world.
  • We track employee progress throughout the program and ensure no one falls behind. We also save voice recordings along the way so employees can see their progress over time.

Step 3: Final Presentation

  • Employees showcase their progress by delivering a final speaking presentation after completing 12 weeks of Mandarin Mindset.
  • The content and complexity of the presentation vary based on the employees’ level of proficiency in Mandarin. It can range from a brief self-introduction to conducting a product demonstration.
  • The final presentation serves as a culmination of the employees’ language learning journey, allowing them to demonstrate their newly acquired skills and confidence in Mandarin communication.

Learning Mandarin Chinese is a journey,

Not a Destination

Employees won’t be fluent after one class. They won’t even be fluent after three months. Learning Mandarin isn’t just about writing characters repeatedly and learning grammar rules in a classroom. It’s about developing the right mindset and confidence to practice speaking.

If you think Zoey and the faculty at Mandarin Mindset are the right teachers for you, then let’s start this important professional journey together!

Just finished watching the final report of our Chinese students. We all know Zoey did a great job, but some of the students really showed how much they went above and beyond this past half year. Seeing them motivated to get better is just fantastic. So Zoey did the thing a great teacher does to separate herself from the other teachers. She was able to motivate them to study on their own.

I worked with Zoey 1-on-1 to improve my Mandarin abilities on the side while working a full time job. Zoey’s tutoring style is student focused, and she pushes you to raise your level in a professional and well-structured form. Her self-curated material is constantly adapted to your interests, and I found learning with Zoey more engaging because we focused on material I was interested in and wanted to learn more about.

Zoey is an excellent translator, and it is easy to ask her more nuanced questions in English and she will understand and provide clear answers on how to approach them in Mandarin. Example: What is the difference between the two noun/verb words for “experience”? 经历 (jīnglì) vs. 经验 (jīngyàn)?

Zoey has a mastery for teaching Mandarin, and I enjoyed my time working with her. We focused mostly on speaking/listening, yet for reading she can teach both simplified and traditional characters. Our classes were solely virtual, and Zoey was able to work around my schedule. I highly recommend Zoey, and would work with her again for further Mandarin tutoring.

Zoey,

Great news—I passed! Thanks so much for your help! Also, the 全球串連早安新聞 was SO helpful. I’m not sure I could have passed without it. Definitely recommend it to your future students!

谢谢老师!

Dear Laoshi,

I would like to thank you for the 10 times meeting you have taught Samantha very patient, and nice and you don’t differentiate even though Samantha is Special Needs. Samantha also never boring to join your class although that is 2 hours. Samantha always wakes up in the morning to prepare herself before participating in your class every Saturday and Sunday for 5 weeks. For your homework and test, Samantha always tries her best by herself. Samantha was very happy to join and listen to mandarin in your class.

Once again as a mom, I would like to say thank you for anything.
And thank you for your patience Samantha could sing nicely though she only listened for two days. And Samantha can get The Best Spirit Award.

Thank you!

Huang laoshi was my first Chinese tutor. I had so much great experiences with her. She’s funny and easy to talk with. She’s not only my teacher but also a good friend of mine. I can say because of her I can cope with my studies here in Taiwan. I learned how to write and recognized Chinese characters. Not only that, but I also learned how to read and conversate with local Taiwanese. She’s very dedicated to her job and it’s what I love about her.

Very useful, easy to understand, tutors teach in English so it can be easy to understand the material being conveyed I love the teacher very much. She is very friendly, patient, and knowledgeable. She has taught me so much and has reinvigorated my determination to learn Mandarin. Thank u laoshi :D I think this program is a great opportunity to learn the Chinese language and culture. It facilitates the students to prepare themselves before they visit China or Taiwan. Learning Mandarin from a native helps me a lot in pronouncing it correctly. There also are several methods to fix our pronunciation, learn to write, and memorize Mandarin characters, and all the tips surely help me improving better. I like it because the lesson is very applicative and not boring. AWESOME
